Open Water Swim / Tri Clinic Series

This series is perfect for beginner to intermediate level triathletes or for those wanting to refine their skills.

Borrowing on the success of our 2010 open water swim clinics, we are offering a three part series in 2011 that includes multiple disciplines.  You may attend one or all of the clinics based on your individual needs.  Clinics are open to all levels of swimmers and all will include a 500 m open water swim in a safe and fun environment.

Clinic 1  June 5th  8am-11am

WETSUIT SWIMMING:  Tips on purchasing a wetsuit, how body position changes, and quick transitioning in a wetsuit.  Participants will receive a 20% coupon for The Sport Factory Pro Shop.

SIGHTING & SWIMMING IN A STRAIGHT LINE: Navigating the course, effective buoy turns and sighting without compromising your stroke.

TRANSITION DEMONSTRATION AND RALLY:  Bring your transition gear.  We will teach you the tricks and tactics to free speed and discover your transition "sticking points."

Clinic 2  July 24th  8am-11am

TACTICS/DRAFTING: Tips for swimming in a pack and how drafting will help you to conserve energy for the bike/run.

SIGHTING & SWIMMING IN A STRAIGHT LINE: Navigating the course, effective buoy turns and sighting without compromising your stroke.

RUN FORM AND DRILLS:  A primer on running technique and improving economy.  How running drills can improve your form and how to apply them.

Clinic 3  September 18th  8am-11am

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER:  We will review the swim leg from start to finish and practice in a race simulation format.

EFFECTIVE EXITS & TRANSITIONING TO THE BIKE: How to make the most out of your exit from the water and get moving on the bike FAST.

BIKE OPTION: This clinic will be followed by a 20-30 mile “no drop” bike ride for all levels. Bring your bike and make it a brick! 

What to Bring- You will need a swimsuit, swim cap and pair of goggles for the swim portion and necessary equipment for the run/bike/transition portion.  These clinics are HANDS ON. 

Fees- $55 / $45 for Team Members (the parking fee at Lanier Park is $4.00) Purchase all three clinics for $150 / $120 team members.

Lake Lanier Park is located on Lanier Park Road off of Buford Dam Road in Buford, Ga

From 400 North Take Exit 14(Cumming/Buford)
Go Right at the exit towards Buford
Take a Left at the Second Light (Sanders Road)
Take a Right at the light onto Buford Dam Road.
Cross the Dam.
Go  straight through the intersection/light of Buford Dam Road and Suwanee Dam Road.
Lanier Park is the first entrance on the left.
Once you are in the park and have paid for parking, you will take a right to head to the beach/parking area for the clinic.

From Interstate 85 North Take Exit 111(Suwanee)
Go Left onto Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. The name of this road will eventually change to Suwanee Dam Road.
You will cross Buford Hwy, Peachtree Ind. Blvd, and Cumming Hwy (Hwy 20)
Stay on this Suwanee Dam Road until it intersects Buford Dam Road. Take a right onto Buford Dam Road. Lanier Park will be the first entrance on the Left.
Once you are inside of the park and have paid for parking, you will go right at the fork to head down to the beach/parking area.
