Chris Zimmer
Like
many triathletes, Chris did not come from a particularly strong athletic
background. He started cycling after college in 1992, then turned to
triathlon in 1995 (once he had the means to fund his passion!), during the
sports initial growth phase. By combing a background in high school
swimming, recreational running, and cycling he become hooked on the challenge
of triathlon.
Chris
raced from 1995-97 competing in a number of triathlons throughout the
Southeast, but as work and family demands grew, he scaled back to cycling for
several seasons. Returning with a renewed passion in 2003 he has
competed consistently in triathlon since.
Chris enjoys competing in and coaching all distances. He likes working with those athletes that have never really considered themselves athletes. He personally understands the demands that training and racing have on career, time management, and family, and wants to assist his clients in balancing all of their obligations to maximize their performance and satisfaction. Part of his coaching process is to get his athletes to identify and focus on their main motivators for training and racing.....
"Once you get the mind right, everything else follows!"
Chris educates his athletes on how the stress-recovery cycle works and how performance gains are made. His style is supportive and encouraging, while holding his athletes accountable to themselves and their goals.
