Watts To Weight Competition

Without a doubt, your power to weight ratio is the most critical metric in relation to cycling performance.  Our "Watts to Weight" competition is a means of gauging improvement as well as staying "honest" with those calories through the base season.

Rules...

  • Athlete is weighed in and performs a 20 min. Functional Threshold Power Test.  Athlete will receive a print out of the results that indicates the following...
    • Power to weight ratio
    • Lactate threshold heart rate
    • Heart rate training zones
    • Functional Threshold Power
  • At the end of a 12 week period athlete is again weighed in and any weight loss / gain is calculated.  They perform a second FTP test and % of improvement in P/W ratio is calculated. 
  • Winner is the athlete that has the most improvement.  Note that improvement can be gained by weight loss as well as power gain!
  • Winner will receive a $100 gift certificate and team kit from The Sport Factory
  • Contest starts 10/1 and all tests must be complete by 2/28/10

Cost- $75 initial test / $50 retest (team members $50 / $25 for retest).

A single VO2 test takes approximate 60 minutes, a double test requires 90-120 minutes. Testing times are 8:30am-10:30am, and 4:30pm-6:30pm week days, Saturday 9am-1pm.
