In this video are two World Champions, two National Champions, a State Champion Time Trialist; and several beginner cyclists. Their ages range from 15 to 72. All these athletes have one thing in common- they want to become faster cyclists!
The Grind is a specific, targeted, and progressive training system. Each work out is planned out in detail by Elite coach Matt Russ and builds upon the previous. The Grind is periodized and the goal is to hit you with the right type of training stress at the right time. You may also choose your work out type or we can help create a custom work out or brick for your upcoming event.
- Why don't you use spin bikes? The first rule of training is specificity. You produce power differently on your own bike vs the upright position of a spin bike. Most spin bikes are not designed for a precise fit or training sessions over an hour.
- Do you have options if I don't bring my bike or own a trainer yet? We have many options.
Bring your own bike and trainer. Our facility is designed for ease of set up and access. If you don't own a trainer yet you may borrow one of ours for your first session, or purchase one at a 20% discount off of retail.
Cyclops 300/400 Pro stationary bicycles with power meters that are infinitely adjustable and available for use at an additional charge. The 300PT utilizes a Power Tap power meter and also has hr, cadence, distance, and speed metrics. The head unit is also uploadable for post work out analysis.
Computrainer is a state of the art stationary trainer that can be linked together. Computrainers display your power output and can be set to hold a particular wattage for optimal training.
NEW! Use a PowerBearm Pro trainer with wireless power meter. The quickest, easiest, and most convenient way to become introduced to training with power.
- Can I incorporate power training into the class? Most definitely. If you do not have a power meter you can rent one of use one of our PowerTap equiped stationary cycles. This is also a great way to "try before you buy." One of our power certified coaches can assist you in the proper use and function of a Power Tap.
- What if I do not have a power meter? No problem. We have a parallel heart rate class.
- How crowded are the classes? We have limited space and we also like to train our athletes in a smaller, more intimate setting. We cap the classes at 30 participants.
- Do you do week end classes? Yes, we have added several two hour Sunday classes due to the demand. These are perfect for those inclement weather week ends in which longer endurance work outs are necessary but not practical on the road. We hold these seasonally so please check our schedule.
- What can I expect out of a class? Don't be intimidated! We are very beginner friendly but we are not a spin class. Each class has a specific work out goal or target to hit. This means putting your head down and working towards a specific goal vs jumping around on your bike!
"I take great care in designing The Grind classes and I have spent years perfecting the format, progression, and focus. I feel confident in The Grind as an advanced training system, not just a class." - USAT/USAC Elite Coach Matt Russ
